A complete make over for your house or office can be a daunting task. If you want to change your flooring you need to be equipped with the proper tools, or hire experts.
If your floor is parquet or linoleum, you can use an edger. An edger is a garden tool that looks like a small shovel. Use the edger so you can get under the parquet or linoleum so you can break the seal. If your parquet was glued to well, you are going to have a harder time removing it, but you can use soapy water to help you out.
If your current floor is a carpet and you want to change it, you just need to simply make sure that your carpet is dust free by vacuuming it then going to each corner of the carpet and removing the tack strip. After which, you cut around 4 meters of carpet and roll it. You need to cut it so that it is easier for you to dispose or store for future use. Some carpets are glued down. If this is the case, buy an adhesive softener and apply it to the sides before rolling and cutting. Clean the sub-flooring right after so that you can attach a new one. If you are not going to use a carpet anymore, make sure you do not forget to remove the tack strips.
If tiles are what you need to remove, you must be very careful. You must wear protective gear such as goggles and gloves to avoid injury. You will need a chisel and hammer to break up the tiles and then use a tile scrapper to get it out of the backer board. Clean and vacuum as usual.
Floor removal can be a lot easier with the use of a concrete floor grinder as well. You will need this after you finish the floor removal process. Concrete floor grinders vacuum cleaner sized equipment with rotating disc to smooth out the surface of your floor concrete before you fasten a new one. Note that when you use a floor grinder, it mas have a rubber sleeve attached to it so that the dust doesn’t go flying all over the place.
Your floor removal process should be a success if you do it with caution. Be cautious not to harm your sub-flooring or the base of your floor because you want it to be flawless and damage-free when you attach your new floor to it.
Have fun redecorating!
